Ricky Swallow - The Arrangement

“The arrangement” (2005) by Ricky swallow measuring of 26x51x46 cm was done so as to increase the reality of his art work, by presenting a real life scaling of a bicycle helmet with snakes intertwined inside. Where this art work is made out of pale limewood carved using classical techniques of sculpture where Swallow is most renowned for. Swallow does not skimp on detail, by the carving of the pale, soft wood is to show the differences in texture, and bring out such details like, the tiny wrinkle on a snake’s mouth and the dull sheen of a reptilian scale; a miniscule dint in a battered helmet.
