More information on Exp 1

Black or Blue?
the colour for my texture on the upper building, was either going to be blue & white, or black & white. i decided to go with blue & white after i did my first animation in black and white stake a look at the difference and decide for yourself.

i have also provided more pictures on the textures i used for the inner upper building. just because i liked it

finally my under building, i did not clarify this before but for my last level where the steps lead to stage the floor for that is actually transparent, this was done to increase the word "curiosity" (which was the word that this building was designed upon), by allowing people to wonder what is under this.

"In what terms should we think of these beings, nonhuman yet possessing so very many human-like characteristics? How should we treat them? Surely we should treat them with the same consideration and kindness as we show to other humans; and as we recognize human rights, so too should we recognize the rights of the great apes? Yes"

Related video

If you have seen this video and my design of my upper building, then you would see the connection which is shapes that comes out and in. But the funny thing is that, i never noticed this design until the other day on the 11th, i've walked through the square house many times before but have never noticed this until the due date for this exp. but still in some way i must have been inspired by this design.

Animations

Upper Building

This design is based on the word "mutation". This design is based on how two completely different shapes i.e. waves and square are still joined together inside. To display this i used the same texture for both interiors. The colour for the texture of the exterior was decided between black or blue along with white, but ended up with blue and white because i liked it that way the most.

Ground Building

This design is based on the word "curiosity". This resembles curiosity as each level has a different design, which makes you wonder what will it look like on the next level. The texture i used somehow to me reminds me of both space and the deep ocean, which is the most mysterious of places i know of.
In a way mutation links to curiosity as, mutation makes people curios: why is it like that? how did that happen? why does that look like that? just some standard questions i would ask if i saw something mutated.

Gallery plus upper building

For those who don't know the stony steps which lead to the "mutation" building, is actually a gallery, i was asked to design a gallery between the upper and under buildings, but i didn't want to alter any of the designs but still wanted my upper building to stand out. So steps which lead to the upper building came out, however i have also added windows (those triangle pyramid shaped objects), because i though it'd be a nice touch to the building, able to see inside and out depending on where you are standing.

Production methods

Ricky Swallow - The Arrangement

“The arrangement” (2005) by Ricky swallow measuring of 26x51x46 cm was done so as to increase the reality of his art work, by presenting a real life scaling of a bicycle helmet with snakes intertwined inside. Where this art work is made out of pale limewood carved using classical techniques of sculpture where Swallow is most renowned for. Swallow does not skimp on detail, by the carving of the pale, soft wood is to show the differences in texture, and bring out such details like, the tiny wrinkle on a snake’s mouth and the dull sheen of a reptilian scale; a miniscule dint in a battered helmet.

Patricia Piccinini - Leather Landscape

“Leather Landscape” (2003) by Patricia Piccinini measuring of 290x175x165 cm, showing “leather Landscape stages a meeting between a family of human-animal hybrids and a human toddler in which the girl and one of the creatures approach each other with an open curiosity”. (Website http://www.fryeart.org/pages/documents/Piccinini2.pdf) Where the creatures are carved from wood and the use of silicone, acrylic, and human hair is applied on after to give a realistic look to the creatures.
